Light, agile and easy to ride through Las Palmas
Thanks to its low 765 mm seat height and light 116 kg kerb weight, the Honda SH Mode 125 is the easiest scooter in our fleet to handle — perfect if this is your first time hiring a scooter, or if you simply prefer a nimble ride through the narrow lanes of Vegueta, along the Las Canteras beachfront, or in and out of parking near your hotel in Santa Catalina. The step-through frame also makes it a comfortable choice for shorter riders and for hopping on and off throughout the day.
Despite its compact size, the SH Mode isn’t just a city runabout: its 125cc engine comfortably takes on the climbs out of Las Palmas towards the island’s interior, so a solo day trip — or a ride with a lighter passenger — is no problem at all. If you’re planning to ride two-up over longer distances or want extra storage for a full island tour, our Honda PCX 125 offers a longer seat and more legroom.
As the largest local hire company with the widest scooter range and fair, transparent prices — genuine Honda quality, never cheap imports — Rental Bike Station Las Palmas 24 is the natural choice for exploring Gran Canaria on two wheels.
What’s included, and what costs extra?
Two jet helmets are included in the rental price. A rear top case/pannier is also fitted to every scooter at no extra cost. Phone holders are usually available free of charge on request. Riding gear worn on the body is generally not included.
Is the SH Mode suitable for beginners?
Thanks to its shorter wheelbase and lighter weight compared with the Honda PCX, the SH Mode is easy to control even for smaller riders, with a relatively low seating position. We do require a minimum level of riding experience (e.g. with a 50cc scooter). If this would be your very first time on a motorised two-wheeler, please don’t book this rental — for your own safety and to avoid inexperience-related damage, we don’t hire out to absolute first-time riders.
Can two people ride the SH Mode?
The SH Mode has almost the same engine power as the Honda PCX, so carrying a passenger is generally fine. However, the wheelbase and seat are shorter, meaning a rider over 180 cm may no longer sit comfortably with a second adult on board.
Are 125cc scooters suitable for all of Gran Canaria’s roads?
Generally, our 125cc scooters will get you up any hill, even two-up. The CVT gearbox copes with gradients over 20%, which do occur on Gran Canaria, though top speed drops to around 20–40 km/h on the steepest sections. When riding downhill, always control your speed using both brakes to avoid overheating. All our scooters have ABS on the front wheel for safety.
Can the scooter be ridden on gravel tracks or off-road?
No. Gravel tracks on Gran Canaria aren’t comparable to typical rural paths in central Europe — they’re often covered in sharp volcanic gravel that can badly damage tyres and bodywork, clog air filters, and risk the scooter grounding out. Riding off the tarmac is a serious breach of the rental terms with full liability for any resulting damage, so our scooters may only be used on paved roads.
Do I need a credit card to pay?
No – we accept all common payment methods: cash, credit card, debit card and other forms of payment. A credit card is not mandatory.
Is a security deposit required?
Yes, a deposit is required – the amount varies depending on the type of vehicle. Details are provided at pick-up or on request.
What is the minimum rental period?
The minimum rental period is 24 hours. You can start and return the vehicle at any time during our opening hours – completely flexible around your schedule.
Is insurance included in the rental price?
For scooters 125cc and 350cc a third-party liability insurance with an excess of 600 € is included.
How does the rental process work?
Walk-in: Simply come to the shop, choose your vehicle and rent it. Please bring your ID and (for scooters) your driving licence. Photocopies or phone photos of documents are not accepted – originals only. Book in advance: Available via website, email or WhatsApp. Please note: for bookings made well in advance, a minimum rental period of 3 days applies.
Are extras available and do they cost extra?
Yes – depending on the vehicle type, we offer extras such as helmets, locks, top boxen or Mobile phone holders. Some extras are free of charge, others are available at an additional cost. Details at pick-up.
